THE JOURNEY
Creating design is never linear, but what we do isn’t just about design. It’s about the journey we guide you on, from the first spark of inspiration to the day you move into your beautiful new home. What we do is also about effective communication, efficient project management, organization, problem-solving, construction oversight, procurement and installation. Step by step we guide you through the process, which we have structured and honed over almost two decades of experience.
We follow this process through all of our projects, keeping us organized, clear and on target, leaving space and freedom for creativity.

1. PROJECT INITIATION
The dreaming and planning start here. We learn about everything you imagine your new home to be and how you want to live. We spend time getting to know you and understanding what’s most important, what you love and what a successful project means uniquely to you. We meet with your architect and builder (or help you select them), measure and document your space, review your architect’s drawings, set a project schedule, and get everything set up, organized and underway.
2. CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
This is where the ideas start coming together. We take everything you’ve told us and the creative process begins. We start with space planning - developing your unique floor plan, then develop sketches and source inspiration photos that illustrate the proposed look and feel of the design. This ensures we are all on the same page before diving into the detailed design process. Once the floor plans and the general concepts are approved they become the foundation for the rest of the design moving forward.
3. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
The next step is to develop the design and carry it through each area of your home. More specific plans and elevations are drawn. Custom furniture and built-ins are designed. Finishes are chosen. Bathrooms and kitchens are designed, and fixtures and appliances selected. Materials for every area of the home are selected - flooring, counters, cabinetry, walls, doors, lighting, hardware and trims. A lighting plan is developed. Drawings, samples and pictures are gathered. Wall and floor coverings are considered. Furniture is sourced, window treatments are designed and fabrics are chosen. In other words, this is where it all comes together and every detail is considered.
4. WORKING DRAWINGS & DOCUMENTATION
We now create a complete set of drawings for the builder to work from. These include detailed drawings for each room, as well as overall partition, lighting, electrical, finishes and furniture plans. Everything is dimensioned, tagged and labelled. We draw elevations for each wall, and detailed sections for built-ins, custom cabinetry and architectural details.
We also create spreadsheets called "schedules," for all of the finishes, materials, and fixtures to be included in the project, all of which are cross-referenced with the drawings. These are provided to the builder, along with spec sheets, special installation instructions, photos and drawings. Our highly detailed construction packages have been recognized among the best in the industry and allow for a smoother, faster and more accurate construction process.
5. PRODUCTION
The production phase is where all the planning finally becomes reality. We work closely with the builder throughout construction to ensure the design is executed as intended. We collaborate with trades and craftspeople to fabricate custom pieces, review and approve shop drawings, finish samples, stain colours, and dye lots. We handle procurement, coordinate product inspections, deliveries and installation. In short, we take care of all the project management required to get the job done efficiently and to our standards of excellence.
Once construction is finished and furniture has been delivered it is time for styling. This is the last step that elevates your project to magazine-quality status and turns your house into your home. We bring in all the accessories and finishing touches that make the space truly yours, set it all up, et voila! Settle in, relax and enjoy!
